Growth, Organizational Structure, and Dynamics
SCIP started as an independent organization of Intelligence Professionals with the focus shifting more towards Competitive Intelligence by the late 1990s. After 23 years of initial operations, Frost and Sullivan Institute – the non-profit arm of Frost – a global leader in Transformational Growth Journey, revived SCIP during 2009 with financial backing, when it needed it most. Some of the Frost initiatives include helping companies worldwide with Transformation, Ecosystem Expansion, Growth Opportunities, Best Practices and so on. SCIP stands to benefit from Frost’s resources, best practices and its extensive network spread over 60+ nations. SCIP continued growing rapidly with members worldwide and a diversified geographical coverage.
Evolution to Reflect the Expanded Global Scope and Tap into the Dynamic Intelligence Ecosystem
SCIP was renamed "Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals" to emphasize the strategic nature of the activities and refocus the organization's general approach, while keeping the existing SCIP brand name and logo. Thereafter, in April 2023, SCIP was renamed again as "Strategic Consortium of Intelligence Professionals". The intention was to reflect the organization’s expanded global scope, encompassing practitioners in competitive, strategic, economic, social, and geo-political intelligence.
Currently, SCIP as a 501c3 non-profit, leverages its global network and its strategic positioning to tap the benefits of Intelligence Revolution impacting every sphere of the emerging business paradigm. To build a strong foundation for the next decade, SCIP is well set to Democratize Intelligence across diverse Geographies, Interest Groups and Demographics with a focus on “Inclusiveness”. The organization is upgrading digital infrastructure, technology, resource base and content to bring further traction to the network, while actively engaging members and the community at large.
Governance
Ethics and Integrity with a clear accent on credibility, safety, fairness and value creation constitute the core pillars of SCIP governance. Adhering to an organization structure with a proactive and talented board is surely the way SCIP will continue to move ahead. Through the Advisory Board representation, SCIP ensures geographical, demographic and professional diversity. Going forward, SCIP will activate its Chapters worldwide, ensure Chapter Governance and provide the Operations Handbook to all Chapter Presidents.
With the growing need to offer innovative content and a smart tech platform supported by a network of top practitioners, especially those demonstrating hands-on experience, we are institutionalizing the SCIP Taskforce for content to play a crucial role in driving these initiatives while providing valuable insights. Committees for Special Events and Projects get formed with the best minds, talent and exemplary operational track record for sound execution and timely guidance. Adoption of Quarterly Reporting of SCIP affairs including finances and resource mobilization, to the board and stakeholders should go a long way towards sustainability, quality and in evaluating as well as fine-tuning business models.
